Sheyna Ferraro (formerly Thayer) was born in Minnesota and grew up in Gilbert, Arizona. She started taking ballet lessons at the age of three. In high school Sheyna was a member of the pre-professional ballet company at the Eastside Ballet Center. This company was run and directed by Constance Stine. While in this company Sheyna had the opportunity to perform roles from many ballets such as Coppelia, Le Corsaire and Paquita. It was also during this time that she had the opportunity to study with Cheri Noble. Sheyna spent two summers at the Dance Aspen Summer Program where she studied with Jillana and performed in her favorite ballet Serenade.

In August of 1998 Sheyna moved to Fort Worth to attend Texas Christian University. During her years in the TCU Dance Department she had the privilege to work with many talented teachers and choreographers such as Li-Chou Cheng, Sean Curran, Fernando Bujones, Elizabeth Gillaspy and Kerry Kreiman. She also had the opportunity to perform in several productions including parts from Don Quixote and Swan Lake. Sheyna graduated in May of 2002 with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet and in December of 2002 received her Secondary Teaching Certification for Dance.

Even before graduating from TCU Sheyna started teaching at local dance studios and continued to for four years. She has also had the opportunity to teach master classes and set choreography at local schools such as Arlington Heights High School and Wedgwood Middle School. From Dec. 2002 until April 2004 Sheyna performed with Contemporary Ballet Dallas. During this time she was able to work with wonderful choreographers such as Cynthia Stanley and Holly Williams. Recently Sheyna has also had the opportunity to work with Contemporary Dance Fort Worth.

Since August of 2003 Mrs. Ferraro has been a dance faculty member at the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts. She teaches dance to grades 3rd – 6th and at the high school level. At fwAFA she also works with the school’s three dance companies and has set multiple pieces of choreography for The Singing Girl’s of Texas. In the spring of 2005 Sheyna set her first full length ballet, Coppelia, for the school. Sheyna looks forward to many more years of dancing, teaching and choreographing in the Fort Worth area.
