Arts anyone?Voters Value the Imagination

Results from a national poll released (Jan. 24, 2008) by Lake Research Partners found that the public considers the arts essential to preparing students for future success.  A new national poll of 1,000 likely voters finds that, "30% of American voters are not only dissatisfied with public education's narrow focus on the ‘so-called' basics but that they also believe developing the imagination is a critical, but missing, ingredient to student success in 21st century schools and moving students beyond average."

  • 69% of American voters believe that, when compared to other nations, America devotes less attention to developing the imagination and innovation.
  • 86% of voters believe that encouraging children to be creative and develop their imagination is necessary to maintain our competitive edge and ensure we do not fall behind other countries.
  • 83% of voters believe that a greater focus on the arts - alongside science, technology, and math - would better prepare students to address the demands of the 21st century.

Dear FWAFA parents and students:

There have been a lot of rumor and discussion about dress code changes for the 2007-08 school year. In particular there has been discussion of the shoe policy. Below is the shoe policy that will be enforced for this year with some clarifications. I have also included the jewelry and hair code as reminders. Please make sure that all students are in compliance on our first day of school (the full dress code may be found in our policies section). We are looking forward to a great 2007-08 school year.

Thank You,

Craig Shreckengast

Principal FWAFA
