 The state accountability system is an integrated system of standard and alternative education accountability procedures. The following is the most recent information provided by the Texas Education Agency. Texas annually rates its public schools and districts on the academic
performance of their students.
Accountability Ratings
The Academically Acceptable standard varies by subject, while the Recognized and Exemplary standards are the same for all subjects:
• Exemplary – For every subject, at least 90% of the tested students pass the test.
• Recognized – For every subject, at least 75% of the tested students pass the test.
• Academically Acceptable – Varies by subject:
o Reading/ELA – At least 70% of the tested students pass the test.
o Writing – At least 65% of the tested students pass the test.
o Social Studies – At least 65% of the tested students pass the test.
o Mathematics – At least 50% of the tested students pass the test.
